Updated website and navigation patterns to decrease friction in the patient experience

The brief

Why Dr. Jones Family and Travel Medicine?

The intention of this redesign is to provide a clear and intuitive layout for patients to access their patient portal, billing portal, resources, and services that are provided at the office. The current friction experienced by patient’s slowly erodes their trust in patient services, which is a staple of the relationship the practice is creating. By improving site navigation and access, we can increase feelings of trust and empowerment for the patient visiting their site and looking for answers.

When thinking about the experience of seeing a new doctor or provider, trust is the most important aspect of that relationship. Both first impressions and continuing that relationship have many opportunities to build on or break that trust. I find it exciting that making a few, but impactful tweaks, can aid in that relationship and make someone feel welcomed, cared for, and appreciated.

Overview

Dr. Jones has operated his private practice for over 20 years in the heart of downtown Boise, ID where he has been able to grow a loyal patient base. His website has functioned as an access point for their patient portal and a resource for patients. Despite being simple and straightforward, his team has been experiencing some friction in increased call volume and logistical management due to lack of information on their current website.

With an updated website, the team is hoping to provide more accessible information in an intuitive format to provide an improved experience for their patients and their team.
